Well if you want in the downlow they are nearing open public registration waiting for that counter you see before you login to hit a magic number. Your 50 invites should keep refreshing to fifty over the next month or so.

I have heard that gmail not only archives your mail but also allows it to be searched for content by programs like google. Is this true Heggy?

Take a look at this site before you get too involved with Google. You might, or might not, change your mind about using the mail.

I read it, but I don't see how what they do is really all that different from email providers like Yahoo and Hotmail. If you read Hotmail's TOS, it says something to the effect of "Any information passed through the Hotmail service is property of MSN". Not those exact words, but that's what it means. I'll see if I can find it later.
