Not Bush Craft....But, close enough.

Well, the principles of it is still the same, you're making the best of your environment, and if you're living between the city and the forest then I say it's okay to mix and match as long as you stay true to the reconnection to earth part.
The only thing I would agree with there is the leather wax. You should never use boiled linseed, too many chemicals in the stuff these days, and as for the grip, it's not needed, a properly treated handle with regular linseed is plenty grippy enough as it is.
Although on my gransfors hunters axe they have a lovely but lightly filed with rings and then gone over with a wire brush process to make it a little bit rougher so it increases the surface contact and tension, I have used it in the pissing rain more than once with absolutely no issues gloves or no gloves.
Their axes are damn good though.
