Sure it is. Just click on any user name. A window should pop up. Select the "Start a Conversation" choice.

True. But the conversation is just between you and the other member.

If you wanted multiple participants, there is an option to do that in you user profile pages.

Yes, you can, You can have a conversation with one member or invite several other members to join in. You can also hold several conversations simultaneously with as many members as you like. All of this is accessible from the Start A Conversation option next to each username.
