The sign Aquarius is ruled by the planet Saturn and is associated with the masses. Large groups of people who might be considered "nobodies", ie, the common people-- people you might see anywhere, such as at the mall (a very Aquarian/11th house type place), a fayre, any sort of large gathering or meet up, Facebook, or any group online like this forum. People who dress alike, who think alike, and whose awareness is often just barely established due to the repressive nature of Saturn-- this is the 99%.
Due to the Saturn rulership and attendant commonness this sign, Aquarius can have a grumpy, and even unhappy quality about it. No one really likes just being a poor no one after all, especially in a country like America it seems like the few who get ahead are living good lives and happy. Saturn can make you feel depressed, due to its restrictive nature.
What is causing this? Why have so many fallen behind? Why is the economic situation in America so depressing? Yes, we all know the economy was purposely crashed. But why are we hearing about the 99% now? We didn't hear this phrase a few years ago.
I believe this gloomy economic/cultural situation is being caused by a planet called Chiron, which has been in Aquarius since 2009. Chiron rules the economy, the pursuit of freedom, distinctiveness, being noteworthy, your career and how you choose to make a living, and has a far reaching impact in terms of setting the tone for a time period. It rules the basic sense of trust for life.

Chiron in Aquarius has caused the masses to wake up and realize they have been taken for a ride; it is causing people to question the system because Saturns rules systems. The economy is probably the worst it has been in my life, and everywhere there seem to be the sad, restricted nobodies who don't understand that no amount of group action (Aquarius rules groups) can make you freer; only risks and the willingness to blaze your own trail can do that. True, the American system no longer works for most. All the education in the world doesn't seem to make a difference, and despite much hard work many are being left behind.
The last time Chiron was in Aquarius was the 1960s. We are seeing many of the same cultural developments as what we saw then; ie a mass uprising and awakening such as the Occupy Movement. It will probably get worse, and certainly is not going to end anytime soon as the media claims. But one day, it will be over.
Chiron is in Aquarius until 2018. Then, it goes in to the sign Pisces, a sign that is ruled by Jupiter. Chiron was last in Pisces in the late 60s through the mid 70s. This era was the end of the hippie movement and the beginning of much of the modernity that we enjoy today. Jupiter has some very positive meanings, and rules things like Judeo Christian tradition, faith, hope, belief, good fortune, peace and forgiveness, promises kept, providence, banks, laws, good judgement and wisdom.

Beginning in the 2018 we will see the economy turn around and a general sense of trust should return. Life will begin to seem more ordered according to positive values, and there will be a more peaceful feeling than what we are experiencing now.
The last time Chiron was in Pisces, Pope John Paul II was elected to the papacy. John Paul also had Chiron in Pisces himself, and was a man of peace.
Till then, keep the faith.
