Do You Trust The Police?

A lot of times on the news we see videos of the police beating up folks for no reason at all. Being too brutal. They go crazy. George Floyd comes to mind. His case was covered extensively in the news. This sad event also has its local equivalents in most places.

Imagine that a couple of police officers come up to you for no particular reason. You'd think that they have a question or something, but no. Instead, they start beating you up. What the…

In some cases, fine, maybe you did something wrong. But despite that, instead of arresting you, they beat you up with excessive force.

What are you supposed to do?

Where I live,
that would never happen...But, if it did,

I would defend myself by any means possible,
using the path of least resistance.

Using an element of surprise,
There are loads of pressure points of the human body that will drop most to their knees.

The aim is to not harm but to put them down asap.

In my county here in MN,
the police are well taken care of by the state
So, if you were to do harm,
You would be thrown in with the lifers and
the guards would look away....if you get my drift.

Lived here for 57 years....You get to know them and most are quite responsible and respectful when you respect the badge.

There are places in the US where cops are notorious for violence, I tend to avoid these places.

What are you supposed to do?
That's what cameras are for. Not all police are bad, but there are some bad people in the ranks. Most police believe in the ideals of this country, but a few believe in their own ideals and cause problems.

Like Wind7 just said, there are some places I avoid. It's not worth the trouble.

I honestly think there is more to every story. We never hear if the person in question made a verbal threat or not. Yes, I trust the
police. Can't blame the whole force for one bad apple. There was a time in my life when I had to call them and they sent 5 cars out and who knows, they could have saved my life.

Main issue? Most people are very ignorant and one sided on this issue----and most issues.

It isn't about too many bad apples or "well there's one or two bad apples here and there but most are good"
or blah blah blah. No----actually none of that.

There are many bad ones. And many good ones.
And yeah, I think there's a lot of very corrupt ones
that have covered up crime and gone after the wrong people.
And there have been a lot of horrible evil racist police as well.
On the other hand the ones who are brave and do incredible
work in the line of duty go underappreciated.
In general though I'm for less restriction for example:
I don't think ANYONE should have ever been arrested
for weed. Ever. I heard once some people used to get life in prison
for weed. Absurd. Alcohol is worse and it's legal.

So yeah good cops and bad cops blah blah blah
BLAH BLAH.

That isn't even the main issue:

Certain things are necessary in society due to people being prone to doing bad things.
Eliminating all law would only work if people naturally evolved towards not doing bad
things at all. Some people think "oh it's just poverty that makes crime if everyone had
the help they needed or if everyone had money no one would hurt each other"
also not necessarily the root cause in all cases------there's lots of evil rich folks too.

Police are necessary when you are being attacked and can't defend yourself or if you're being robbed
and many other situations. Is it too bad that they are necessary? Maybe. Maybe not.
It's just life. Society. It's not about groveling to police and it isn't about getting rid of all
of them either. We shouldn't worship or grovel to police, but we also shouldn't
get rid of all police.

But sure-----I can see all sides to the argument. Problem is imo though
a lack of balance on this issue and most people either thinking
most police are bad or good when in reality that isn't
the real issue. If most of em were bad just clean house and
put in good ones.

ON WHETHER POLICE ARE NECESSARY AT ALL:

This is a philosophical issue being confused with a real world policy issue.
When you base real world policy off of philosophical "oh what if we all just magically
got along" or "police are always right and they should arrest fire hydrants for speeding" type shit it can fuck things up.
People let emotions influence opinions on these things. There are higher sinister forces at work
trying to tease ideas of various things in order to implement even more draconian rules
by first implementing mass chaos and taking advantage of peoples desire for peace on earth and a utopia.

But yeah----in Heaven you probly don't need police but we don't live there yet.
We can all strive to help each other but if someone steals my wallet I'm still gonna want to be able to call police to catch the guy and get it back.

You see people struggling help them. We all should try to be as good people as possible.
Then we can begin to talk about whether we need police.

There certainly have been a few bad cops here too.

A close friend of mine had her screens cut so the perp could get to the latches
and gain entry through her bathroom window.....The policeman told her that
"The wind could have done that." :fp: FFS!

Myself?
I had a run-in with a policeman aptly named Officer Payne from the town due North of me.

He Was definitely "A Pain!"

A real spit and polish alpha type that tried to throw the legal book at me and my bandmates
for throwing a party that minors snuck into. We legally rented a party room/hall and were
unaware of the minors at the time of near arrest.

(They each grabbed a drum case and 'Helped me carry equipment'
to which they got outside and split!) Ahhhh....The 90's. :ROFLMAO:

I used to live in the UK & did trust the Police, although my interactions with them were very few.

There are good ones & bad ones, but according to YouTube all them seem corrupt & violent...

It must be a hugely difficult job to do, very stressful & demanding. Don't think I could do it.

Best not to trust anyone really, until you know them, I guess.

Yeah....Good old 'Hate Bait' YT Videos.
Like anything else...Some are pure non-sense and people are just harassing them for no real purpose
other than to support that particular agenda. Sad really.

Yeah.

Years ago, I got a ticket for going 2 over the speed limit.
They would have a field day with me then! ;)
I called the guy an asshole.
Yeah.
Over zealous cops are a real joy, aren't they?

Had one get angry at me for not being drunk when he pulled me over one night on my way home
from my then 2nd shift job. I asked him why I was pulled over and I didn't even get to finish my sentence.

"Why did I pull you over?!", he goes.
You have a bright light coming off your back bumper....Fix it so I never have to pull you over again!"

It was the light bracket covering the license plate light.
It had rusted away...So I covered it up half way with black spray paint. Job done.

He was a total dick about it.
