To make such a device, you would need to entangle particles across different universes somehow. If the undetermined state of quarks is peeking into the division of time (distance = |x, y, z, time|), we might be able to create an unobserved pair and grab the particle not jumping into the alternative timeline. For each particle, you can send back a signal given a number. The more unused particles you have left, the more bits you can send with each selection. Then you wait for the timelines to deviate.
