Titors words..... It is another confirmation for his story! I bet you we have time travel in ten years or less.... fucking shit... maybe 5 years or less if this is the justification needed to rev up production.... god the more I think about it this mean full attention can be given to it... I would bet on public disclosure in 20 years or less.

This technology is about to get used and abused but it can only do so much.... SO many misinterpret the ideas..

It is a good thing.

ONTO THE STORY!!!!

God particle is 'found': Scientists at Cern expected to announce Higgs boson particle has been discovered on Wednesday | Mail Online

Peter Higgs, the Edinburgh University emeritus professor of physics that the particle is named after, is among those who have been called to the press conference in Switzerland.

Invite: Peter Higgs, the professor the particle is named after, has been asked to attend the press conference at Cern
The management at Cern want the two teams of scientists to reach the 'five sigma' level of certainty with their results - so they are 99.99995 per cent sure - such is the significance of the results.
Tom Kibble, 79, the emeritus professor of physics at Imperial College London, has also been invited but is unable to attend.
He told the Sunday Times: 'My guess is that is must be a pretty positive result for them to be asking us out there.'
The Higgs boson is regarded as the key to understanding the universe. Physicists say its job is to give the particles that make up atoms their mass.
Without this mass, these particles would zip though the cosmos at the speed of light, unable to bind together to form the atoms that make up everything in the universe, from planets to people.
The collider, housed in an 18-mile tunnel buried deep underground near the French-Swiss border, smashes beams of protons – sub-atomic particles – together at close to the speed of light, recreating the conditions that existed a fraction of a second after the Big Bang.
If the physicists’ theory is correct, a few Higgs bosons should be created in every trillion collisions, before rapidly decaying.

This decay would leave behind a ‘footprint’ that would show up as a bump in their graphs.
However, despite 1,600 trillion collisions being created in the tunnel - there have been fewer than 300 potential Higgs particles.
Now it is thought that two separate teams of scientists, who run independent experiments in secret from each other, have both uncovered evidence of the particle.
However, the two groups, CMS and ATLAS, are expected to stop short of confirming its existence.

I can't believe nobody has grasped upon this..

Titor Directly spoke about this in no uncertain terms and while it took us about 10 years longer than it took his worldline... we have done it. It wont be long before they bottle the singularities and make worldline devices.

A major victory for Titor in the proving of his words in my opinion....

Also A GREAT DISCOVERY FOR HJUMANITY IN THE FIRELD OF PHYSICS WOOOOOT!!!

Most physicists have been assuming the Higgs particle exists for sometime now. This is just proving with 99.99% certainty that what they have been hypothesizing is indeed fact. Don't get me wrong this is a huge deal in the world of physics but it doesn't necessarily mean we will be harnessing its elusive universal binding power anytime soon. What it does mean is the current model explaining what gives matter it's mass and how the universe was formed can be assumed true.

Thank you captain buzz kill for your laymans' opinion upon the subject matter of the particle confirmation.

Personally I hold it as kinda of a bigger deal but then again I have been following the CERN experiments for 10 years now so I suppose I have a little more emotional capitol invested into it as well as a more complete understanding of event..... Been waiting for years... Hooray. Public confirmation! Woot.

Practical applications will soon be put into use... That is why they ever got funding in the first place. That research has value... Monetary value. In fact I would bet the Euro stocks will enjoy a upswing at this news.

All I am saying is this doesn't change the way many physicist have been thinking in any way. As you put it, it is only public confirmation of one very accepted string theory.

And don't assume you know more than someone else on any given subject, it shows extreme ignorance.

I'm not gonna get in a pissing match with you but proving its existence is not it's discovery. They have yet to "see" or capture this molecule. Probably because it is completely random popping in and out of dimension(s) making it nearly impossible to capture. We don't need to capture it per say to utilize its principles and thus bend space time but it would be prudent to understand more before we do something stupid and irreversible.

I Meant no offense but I think you put too much weight on this event. The hadron collider IS the most amazing machine ever built by man AND these experiments are the pinnacle of human intellectual achievement. BUT there is a huge amount still to learn before we are time traveling.

This is my opinion. Sorry to disagree with you.

Shouldn't we take this as bad news rather then, good in the thought that John Titors story continues down a accurate path? If this is the start of Time Machines wouldn't that mean the chances of a full scale civil war be increasing also?

Don't get your hopes up on the Higg's Boson. I'm finding a lot of stuff that we are taught in school is pure BS. The concept of mass appears to have multiple meanings. And nobody in history gets the credit for the concept of mass. I find that a little odd. Like maybe someone made it up and stuffed it in the text books as if it were fact. And Titor was predicting the discovery of miniature black holes. Which by the way still do not exist.

I think the discovery is pretty neat. Now, I am not into physics too much, but on the JT side of this coin....it does appear to be happening...if a little too late as Titorite mentioned in the first post. My concern is what happens next. A good chat topic for this week for sure. I will have to read up a little more on the subject matter. A good post nonetheless.

Thank you for inviting me to dissect your words.

All I am saying is this doesn't change the way many physicist have been thinking in any way. As you put it, it is only public confirmation of one very accepted string theory.

It is not "only" that. It is much more. And yes it does 'Force' some physicists to rethink their opinions on the universe.

I do not think you understand the significance of it...

And don't assume you know more than someone else on any given subject, it shows extreme ignorance.

Hubris is a word too.

Sorry in what exact sense honestly?

The laymen will remain laymen, the struggling scientists will still struggle to support the real thinkers that have made this happen.

Their is a huge amount to learn before we are time trafveling... That is what you say? based on what exactly? I thnk if othetrs have been doing it before us. then maybe we can have the benifit of their edge....

I have no doubt... Private Pilot Experimental World line travels will begin real soon.... First probes then sooner then ever people... wow. and we will better outrselves. I would bet on public diclourse of time/worldline travel being 20 to 50 years off... governmentment depending.

This is a significant finding, I'm not disputing that. Am I a Layman, yes. I don't find that offensive. I am a man based in logic and don't claim to fly before I learn to crawl.

Anyway thanks for sharing your views. You may very well be correct with regards to being close to time travel technology. Time will tell.

Sincerely,

Capt. Buzzkill
