You better sit first. Well the seventh day adventists are a group that wants to restore the original christianism. The one from before the roman empires decided they should change a lot of stuff so christianism would look better to pagans and they could still doing their original rituals. And that's because at some point a lot of people and mainly powerful people from the roman empire started to convert So just kill them like always was becoming a bit counterproductive. So what are the major differences from my church to others : - We keep the shabbat, as it was one of the most important parts of god's law. And even god himself keep the shabbat, and so did Jesus and all his buddies : "Then they returned and prepared spices and ointments. On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment. " - Luke 23:56 - We keep the dietary restrictions shown on the old testiment, so we don't eat pig or squids for example. Altought we are not as hardcore as Jews having sepparated sinks and not cooking meat and milk together. Also most people in the church are vegan or vegetarians, and health eating habits are incentivated. - We do not believe in hell as it was a post-roman creation, based off the Hades. If god allowed people to go to hell forever he wouldn't be good of fair, so instead we believe that anyone who is not able to go to heaven will just stop existing. -We do not believe we are the only ones going to heaven. We do believe that both non christians and other christian churches heave equal chances of going to heaven. As long as they are good people and do god's will even without knowing or believing we are wrong. Yeah, even atheists, but it only works if they are people that didn't feel the call to come to Jesus (Like they heard, respected, but thought I don't believe this.), If you believe and do not follow them you will be denying Christ. -We usually do not use any jewlery (you can, just shouldn't and really don't do that in church.), because we believe that we should all be equal in church and jewlery can make rich and poor people stand out too much. We didn't even had engagement rings for quite some time, but they ended up being considered useful jewlery and are now allowed. But most of us don't use them in marriages, and they are very simple looking with no stones. -We also have dozens of people working in biblical archeology. - But I think the most controversial thing though is this lady : Her name was Ellen G. White, she was a women, she was mixed as you can see, she had a cognitive problem caused by a kid throwing a rock at her head when se was younger... but most important of all : She was said to have visions inspired by god. Some of wich were confirmed by very respected ministers. People absolutelly freaked out despite Jesus saying that there would be both real and fake prophets at the end of the times. I she was a white man we would probably have a lot more of respect today. Anyway she wrote a lot of books talking not only about realigion but also about how people should make regular exercise and beath fresh air (that was considered to be bad for your health at the time.), and how we should take care of nature etc... and this in 18-something. And we do consider her to be a prophet. Just it. Here are the main beliefs of the church if you want to know a bit more. Hope you have find it interesting. If you are bored now you can just ignore me, but if I have made you curious all Ellen G. White books are for free in pdf thanks to the church. ^^
