Removal of Three From Bush Visit Probed

Associated Press | March 31 2005

The Secret Service is investigating the claims of three people who say they were removed from President Bush's town hall meeting on Social Security last week because of a bumper sticker on their car that read: "No More Blood for Oil."

The three said they had obtained tickets to the event through the office of Rep. Bob Beauprez, R-Colo., had passed through security and were preparing to take their seats when they were approached by what they thought was a Secret Service agent who asked them to leave.

Alex Young, 25, who was among the three removed, said officials told them the next day they were identified as belonging to the "No Blood for Oil" group.

Lon Garner, the agent in charge of the Secret Service office in Denver, said the Secret Service had nothing to do with the three being asked to leave. Garner declined to release further details, citing an ongoing investigation.

"We are very sensitive to the First Amendment and general assembly rights as protected by the Constitution," Garner said.

Brad Woodhouse, a spokesman for Americans United, called the removal of the three people an egregious violation of their First Amendment rights.

"They're screening the people who are allowed to come and then they're profiling them in the parking lot," he said. "It's quite extraordinary, and disappointing."

I'd just like to caution you about taking Alex Jones too seriously. He says alot of things that are verifiably untrue. Plus if he were right, he'd be dead. ?

I don't know Phil. I know Jones goes to extremes in some of his suspicions, allegations, theories, but has he ever presented something as "fact" and it turned out to be totally false or fabricated? I'm not saying that hasn't happened, I'm just not aware that it has. Most of what I've seen him present as "facts" are backed up with evidence. It took me quite some time of looking at what he presented to even begin to believe anything he said. It's just too incredible to take it at face value. But as Jones says himself, they're hiding in plain site.

Yeah, I know the guy comes up with some pretty wild stuff sometimes. But I think the general disbelief and ridicule to some extent by the general public is what allows Jones to stay above ground. What can he do to hurt those in power if he's not believed? Not much. Sure he has somewhat of a following, but no legal action is being taken against those he accuses. Let him rant and rave, as most people will totally dismiss anything he has to say and anyone who has something similar to say.

Not trying to get crossways with you pal. You know I respect your opinion and contribution here. I just Alex Jones in a more favorable light, and that took some doing.

Cary

P.S. Where the hell is SmokeRingHalo? He's the guy that I found Alex Jones through. Smoke, you wanna check in pal?

WASHINGTON A Department of Homeland Security internal report that assesses terrorist organizations, their anticipated targets and preferred weapons concludes that the threat to the United States presented by North Korea and other countries long described as "state sponsors of terrorism" is declining.

"In the post-9/11 environment, countries do not appear to be facilitating or supporting terrorist groups intent on striking the U.S. homeland," says the draft report, which is intended to help the Homeland Security agency define its spending priorities through 2011.

Of the six nations identified by the State Department as terrorist sponsors, five of them are described by Homeland Security as a "diminishing concern." Those five are North Korea, Sudan, Syria, Libya and Cuba. The sixth country on the list, Iran, is highlighted as a likely threat over the next five years.

"Only Iran appears to have the possible future motivation to use terrorist groups, in addition to its own state agents, to plot against the U.S. homeland," the report says, adding that "ideologically driven nonstate actors" are the biggest threat to the United States.

Terrorism experts said that it was an unusual statement for the Bush administration, which has often called North Korea and other nations serious threats.

This the first time the two-year-old department has prepared what will now be an annual Integrated Planning Guidance Report, a document that is listed as "sensitive" but not classified, meaning it is not intended to be released publicly.

The goal, said Brian Roehrkasse, a department spokesman, is to focus the department's $40 billion in annual spending toward the most serious threats.

Al Qaeda, not unexpectedly, tops a list of adversaries in the report, although the authors question if the group can still pull off attacks similar in scale to those of Sept. 11, 2001.

The report, which was first disclosed last week on the Web site of Congressional Quarterly, identifies animal rights activists and radical environmentalists as possible threats. But it does not mention domestic extremist groups, like Aryan Nations or anti-abortion activists, which have previously been identified by federal officials as threats.

In assessing the most likely targets, the report says that "visual symbols" top the list, like the White House, the Capitol, the Pentagon and the CIA headquarters, as do "American popular culture icons" like the Golden Gate Bridge and the Statue of Liberty.

Okay, now this is getting funny. YOU Sosue, were one of the goobers who talked (begged is a better word) me into it. NOW, you're questionning your intelligence, and claiming to have only "agreed" to it? LMAO. You are SUCH a liar. You and I both know the truth. Now everyone does. LOL

Cary

(I know, I know, we're just kidding. Just clarifying for those who wouldn't otherwise know.)

Oh, no problem Cary, Its just I've investigated some of his claims myself when they were in my area, and they have always turned out to be something else. I have been to three of the "Fema camps" that he lists. Two on prisoner transports, and one just to check it out. Two were nothing more threatening than normal department of corrections faculities, and the third was a feild. The last claim of his that I recall being posted here involved a bunch of "UN" white vans parked near a Texas Prison. That was the Texas DOC motor pool, they use white vans as well, have for decades.
Its either Jones or one of his cohorts who claims to have a harrowing encounter with a UN cop every couple of weeks. I haven't even heard a rumor about them otherwise, and if they were that active I would have. Not trying to get crosswise with you either, but Jones is a little shall we say..... Overzesous in his interpretation of evidence.
