strangely when the ac triac circuit isnt being fed ac frequencies to pulsate it puts out dc square waves

555 timers can only output pulsed DC. Triacs may turn on with nearly anything, but will only turn off when the pass voltage drops to zero, regardless of the gate voltage. If you want a clean AC square wave, you'll need a bipolar multivibrator circuit. There are multiple ways to make one of these.

im not worrying about cleaning up the square waves as im not using them for anything other than experiments
