Is your +1 meant to mean 22 swg or awg?+1
That's what he has mentioned in his interviews I recall.
Why not make the coil former longer to prevent the overlapping of 14awg?21 usually seems about right for general stuff, including the electromagnet winding.
14 is larger than you need in almost all cases, so it will probably just cost more.
It will also make it harder to make the right number of turns in your coils without overlapping.
