How do we get from a medium of silicon to the medium we call glass? All I know of is heat. Can 3D printers use a granular medium?I haven't come across any mention of using a 3D printer to print objects made of glass. If one does exist I would like to read about it.

If it dissolved in water could it have other benefits for mankind besides glass? Is silica harmful to ingest? It is a key component of glass. But other elements are included. You don't want it ti dissolve in water.
