I checked on some of my Cryptozoology stuff and i haven't came across anything about small furry creatures in Lore involving Africa, i know some here in the states include, Sprites, Fairy's, and i am sure there are more.
Yes there are ghost animals, have you owned cats? And you may want to consider getting a disposable camera by your bed, i say disposable because you can grab it and snap a picture instantly rather than waiting for a digital to turn on and get ready. Try and get some pictures of when it happens.
But i do agree that first things first is to be checked medically before jumping to a paranormal conclusion.
