I still remember when I crossed paths with this man.
It was around 2007 or 2008, in Madrid, Spain. It was raining lightly and I did not have an umbrella. And then, I encountered this middle-aged man just as I decided to go down the subway station.
He moved his head towards me while he was going upstairs. His look made me feel strange. It was not a negative sensation, but just an odd one. Like... feeling out of place.
He smiled to me.
I smiled back, feeling a bit insecure. I felt that this person was not from there. Not from the city. Not from that place. Not from that time.
I would never forget that moment.
And then, I knew it.
