That's probably true, but usually when you get that sensation of falling, it only lasts for a moment. However in my dream, it's prolonged...I can feel my body tensing and it's as if I'm clinging to whatever I can so I won't fall out of the car...The same with my mom, she has this same exact dream...

I meant perhaps the mind is generating that feeling as a way of saying "Hey, you need to sleep more." Or it could be a physiological reaction to the lack of sleep. Without consulting a sleep specialist we won't really know though.

Gotcha...It's not necessarily bothersome for me, though... ;)

Here is a good one, which happened last night...a good clean one. I was following this older lady upstairs to a kitchen. She asked me what you call the glass in that door? I told her it was a storm door, which she wanted shut so the cold air wouldn't get out. (still with me?) I crawled out the front door, which was about 10 feet off the ground. A girl, I use to work with, followed me and just jumped. I thought she was going to break both her legs. She was wearing pink pants, which were very tight as her legs looked like they were three times larger than I had remembered. She lunged at me pinning me to the ground. I explained that her coworkers were watching, which didn't phase her. I was like a cartoon character stuck under a boulder with arms outstretched and legs a kicking. She then started kissing me and I was choking and gasping for air. It was like a power drill getting more and more intense...then I woke up. A weird one for sure..lol

right you manage to get yourself into a physical position where your breathing and everything else became problematic, hence the pinned down sensation. The kissing was to freak you out so that you will wake up and adjust your body so that it could breath normally. In my dreams I normally get pinned in a room and the doors close and somehow water starts to rise up till i get that freakish drowning sensation and wake up.

it is common but scary because the body actually feels the sensation of panic.
