Avoid amazon like the plague unless absolutely necessary when it comes to crystals.
It does depend on how deeply you want to work with the crystals and what their purpose is for of course, but amazons stuff is almost all chinese mined and cut to the exact same dimensions which destroys the natural harmonics of the geometry it was born to carry. It might be fine for circuitry work but if you are intending on metaphysical stuff its better to go into a local place thats both known and larger scale. They tend to have cleaner stuff from more ethical mines.
Etsy isn't too bad but avoid places that sell by bulk pictures listing A,b,c, etc, go for the ones that list each crystal as it's own listing and are happy to show you other view points of that crystal. This will rule out the people just trying to sell crystals to make money and help you hone in on the ones that know their stuff and care about their customers.

Then yeah, you cannot use fakes for that, and you'll need to pick the right geometry, not all of them are suited for time windows, theres about 30 other personalities and sometimes their personalities are like us, it can be a mixed bag. You will really need to dive into the study of quartz to learn those personalities. Theres a few good books around and some websites that cover bits and pieces.

It may be possible that a cut vogel would do well for it but it's not something i've tried so can't comment on that. Vogels properly cut are very expensive.
