Legalizing weed would:

Decrease its value and demand
Lower crime because of the above

Study the prohibition. Banning things creates more crime and never gets rid of the banned item.

The problem with legalizing weed is that people interpret as: The government says it's legal, therefore it must be safe!

Which it is not.

The best example I can think of: I used to work with a former dope smoker who got his life straightened out and was trying to move forward. This is the weed from the 1970's and 1980's, of which is far less potent than today's varieties. It left him mentally handicapped with a low IQ, and he knew it. He was talking about it to me one evening, and he said it was enjoyable at the time... but just don't... it ain't worth it. Once a person gets to the point of realizing brain damage, it's far too late to turn it around. He was a great guy to be around, but it wrecked any chance he had at a more advanced career. Even the effects of periodic use are cumulative over time.

I don't like the FDA very much, but if the people would take it through them, they'd get a lot more support. Lighting your "medicine" on fire and then inhaling it is the absolute worst way to get a clean and measured dosage. Baking it in the oven isn't much better. Extracted drops are sorta tolerable. If the legalize movement would have first taken it through the FDA when this started, we'd have legalized pills by now that could actually help people who need it the most and who are resistant to current medicines. Maybe the prescription drug cartels will find the piece that trashes memory and learning abilities and remove it.

As far as taxation goes, idiot politicians will piss all that money into the wind, anyways.

@MODAT7 Alcohol isn’t safe. Prohibition made it worse. Nobody stopped drinking and people broke the law to get it and to profit from it.

Driving isn’t safe. Anything that can kill you is not safe, but we have free will and can make our own choices. We don’t need government to make those decisions for us.

I'm hearing politcians say they want to regulate weed like cigarettes. I know that more government always sucks, but at least it wouldn't be laced with fentanyl. There are also gummies already made in other states that I assume aren't laced with anything.

The main question should be: Why are people so desperate to get stoned in the first place? (this is not a trick question)

I understand some people have medical issues, but those should be taken through the corruption of the FDA.

Right. I would like it legalized, but have no desire to use it. The world has mental health issues. Psychology isn't taken very seriously. The focus is always on a pill to fix it - a bandaid, but what if there is a physical cause in the brain? What if surgery could fix it? Some of it is caused by past trauma, but not everyone that needs it goes to therapy. In the USA, it's probably because they can't afford it and insurance only covers a few sessions. So, people self medicate.

I don't know why humans are so unhappy. Animals don't seem to have this problem very often. Though, there are monkies that get drunk off the juice from a type of caterpillar, just because it feels good. You know, the brain being rewarded so it wants more....

Every time we go to Mexico or Dominican Republic, we can't help but notice how happy and chill the ressort staff are. Life is way slower over there.

Modern city life, in modern countries goes so fast and is so stressful. Gotta have everything instantly. People are dicks. Your job sucks, you're underpaid and pushed to the limit. Social media.

It makes me wanna leave and live a simpler life. Getting stoned is a temporary fix, a way to momentarily escape from all that noise I guess.

Does that make sense?

As far as I know, pot isn't dangerous. If you consume too much, you'll feel weird and fall asleep. No big deal.

I consumed a gel cap that was way too strong once. I was stoned out of my mind for hours. It wasn't cool, but it wasn't dangerous either. I was in no shape to cause trouble, to be honest.

Just like alcohol, don't do it and drive. When I tried it in the past, I had zero desire to drive. The munchies thing is true, though.
It would definitely help the snack industry. But, I feel it's less dangerous than alcohol. I've never seen anyone high off pot become violent. (Correct me if I'm wrong). And wouldn't it be rare to OD? Once your'e high, you don't crave more...... at least I never did. I just don't have the desire for it at the moment. I have a family and animals to take care of. I am interested in light gummies for occasional anxiety, but nothing more.

It's silly to put people in jail for having a plant in their pocket. Save the jails for the pedos.

I used it to sleep, i have really bad sleeping problems some times, not really insomnia but i wake up 5 or 6 times a night, i refuse to take over the counter pills and exercise/meditation/ etc never worked, but when i smoked a bowl or a joint i would be out like a light for a solid 8 hours or more of sleep, i would wake up groggy as hell but for weeks or sometimes months after that my sleep would be way better.

So MN at the time didn't have it legalized so i would have to risk buying a baggie, luckily the fent issue wasn't around back then and now i've lived in a legal state for years so when sleeping gets difficult i just go buy a tincture and bam, issue is fixed.
