The World Ended in 1999 theory

YES!

I've noticed that a lot of music I listen to now vs the early 2000's is very difficult to distinguish from. I've also noticed the TV and film thing. In some ways I keep thinking that certain aspects of cultural development have played out and there isn't any new directions to go... but then I remember "Hunger Games" fashions... Maybe it's better that we're stuck.

I agree to an extent, it actually SHOCKED me how much TV shows and stupid mundane things impacted
things like hairstyles and clothing back then.

But at least people were quasi-united culturally. There's a new kind of brainwashing now that is more divide and conquer:

I think the problem with it is that it creates interpretations of reality that are blatantly false simply based on one's own
preconcieved perceptions that are then reinforced by seeing things in the culture that are actually only one aspect
of eight million different cultural attitudes that are all reinforced by different groups and subgroups and then
interpretated by those not in the know as the "dominant trend in culture, like fashion etc" when in fact you can now
see anything from any period in time anywhere, which creates bubbles that people are trapped in, not realizing
that there is in fact no real "trendy" thing to do in 2025 other than look at your phone and go on Instagram or play MMO's.

Even though the concepts of the video scare me to tears, I have always been a firm debunker of at least some of the Mandela Effect beliefs, many of them have easily explainable psychological explanations. You've never known anyone named "STAIN" like a
clothing stain so naturally you'll remember the Berenstain Bears as Berenstein, because of Frankenstein
or Albert Einstein, and because as someone on Youtube once pointed out "they're books for children
and you probly only glanced at them a couple times as an adult anyway and don't remember"

The Moonraker thing, I admit I too remember there being braces but on the other hand the scene just makes
more sense with braces so we assume she had braces maybe she did maybe she didn't.
The Monopoly man apparently did have a monocle but only on certain playing cards?
I don't buy that. I remember him always having a monocle.

I think some Mandelas are real and some are fake.

The C3PO one drives me insane. HE NEVER HAD A SILVER LEG IN MY MEMORY.
ANYONE ELSE AGREE?
100%. I remember reading about this many years ago. There are screenshots showing the silver leg... But I have yet to see it myself in the movies. I've watched them tons of times and I never saw C3PO with a silver right leg.

I'm still a little baffled here. If there's anything that can explain it, it's most likely the overall lighting in the movie. Think about Indy's jacket in the opening sequence of Raiders of the Lost Ark. As a kid, I used to think his jacket was black during this early part of the movie. Then later on in the desert, that he had another different jacket, this time a brown one. Turns out it's the same jacket all along, it's all about lighting and exposition I guess.

Considering this, C3PO is made of shiny metal, so it adds even more room for optical illusions and our brain not processing what we're seeing properly. Still, it's odd to me.

"Stain" stands out to me because of the misspelling. I would have noticed that when I was younger. I probably would have thought way back then that "stain" was related to an underwear accident.

I specifically remember Dolly having braces in Moonraker. I was just a kid when I saw it on VHS. I remember mom laughing at it because Jaws had all that metal in his mouth. Dolly was a good fit for him. (also the short/tall dynamic)

In the really old days that predate me, a monocle was often worn by rich bankers as kind of a status symbol. The Monopoly man had one to fit in.

As a scifi nut from an early age, Star Wars was required viewing at least a couple dozen times per year. VHS was never that great of a picture, but I never remember the silver leg. I wondered why 3PO had a red arm, but those later movies don't exist.

I was watching some movie earlier this week. I thought it was close to recent until I saw the old style CRTs on the computers. I was only a couple decades off on that one.

Social media became our new identity system.
And as a result? The physical world paused.
