There was a drummer for an old classic 70's rock band (thought it was Iron Butterfly but turned out it wasn't - something like it though) that was a genius, left the band to pursue science. From the story told, he was on the verge of breaking the speed of light. Being extremely close to the solution, he went out for his morning jog, and called 911 only to say he was killing himself. They found him dead in his car (van).
Now its obviously a suspicious death, who would even bother with a jog if you were just going to kill yourself in a few hours? The family insists he wasn't like that and would never kill himself. he was definately onto some breakthrough imo.
If anyone knows the band or name of the drummer/genius, please post it.
I haven't been able to google anything up so far.
EDIT: Ok - It was Iron Butterfly but it was the bassist (Phillip Taylor Kramer) - not the drummer.
