Scientists are trying to create a vaccine that can help reduce muscle loss or help regain it in case of injury, immobility or space travel. This vaccine could help people on Earth and in space live a better and healthier life as they age. I thought this was really interesting.

Who knows. Any time they mess with our immune system things go wrong. And what does muscle loss have to do with immunity, anyway?

True. Very true. They should call it a medication, not a vaccine.

Yeah, the vaccine is just a delivery mechanism.

Who knows what they will invent to keep us in shape here and in space. It could have any delivery mechanism. Pills perhaps.

I see this as part of our age old quest for immortality, at least, increased health and longevity.

But as usual, big pharma will get a hold of it and will need to make a huge profit off it.

One could probably change how much muscle is grown from exercise, but then you may become super muscular and eat up all the meat when you have hard work to do. If all muscles have a minimum level, they have to adjust how much to have where and make sure that they grow or the right length when not tense. Not having much muscles might be what saves them when running out of food in the space station, so it has to be a temporary effect or reversible.

I guess I would question the reasoning behind the needs for such a vaccine.

Is it for long term space endeavors ?
