Analyze this...

This is a dream I had some time back and the image has really stuck with me simply for it's bizareness.

Basically I was in a motorway service station yet it was more like a grotty road side cafe and spent some time in here sort of flitting about as dreams do. I was in an old car I used to own (MkII Escort) and had been having trouble climbing the hill of one side of this motorway. The reason being, the hill was probably a 1 in 2 or 3, incredibly steep and covered in thick snow. I had been driving round in the snow for a while and remember a couple of roundabouts n I have a general recurring dream of long roads, sometimes winding in the air.

At one point a lorry trailer came over the barrier and slid over me and someone else, we were ducking down by the barrier, it was really close, I had to lie on the ground and was very claustrophobic, I think someone slid the trailer off of us, because it was icy obviously it would slide...

As I got up and looked up the hill I saw lorry trailers and other traffic piling down this ridiculously steep hill but with animals at the front, not the normal front of an artculated lorry you expect, pairs of horses and even a pig which had it's legs splayed out under the weight. They were really struggling and trying to back up to slow these trailers.

Some of them had like carriagemen holding the reigns, sitting where the hoses plug into the trailer, trying to get it all under control. And I could see the worry on the animals faces, the horses were frightened, I think because they were approaching a roundabout, or sharp turn, at the bottom of the hill. They were all making noises as well, this was the worst bit, really panicky whinying (horses) and squeeling (like a pig - the pigs) The pig was the worst I think...Squashed and panicky, though it wasn't killing it as you'd expect, I don't think.

I am learning to draw, as soon as I can draw or paint it properly I will post it, is a proper freaky dream-like image I have in my head...Please feel free to tell me what is right with that shit...

Re: Analyze this...

This is the best I can come up with. The road and car (and this is going to sound cliche) the road of life (your life). The hill is a hardships in life and the snow is something that is making the hardship even harder (like a bad attuitde about going to work for example). The other beings on the hill are friends that are having troubles too. The trailer that slides over you is a friend's hardship affects you too (example, they ask for help, are arrested, ect) and since it got the person next to you, they are affected too. The animals are your friends and the trailers their burdens (since they are pulling at them). The squelling and whinying of the animals are them crying out for help or in pain. The roads in the air are good times (less/no hardships). The roundabouts are when you realize you made a mistake and turn around to correct it.

Thats pretty close. I would have seen it as "Old" fashioned ways of solving problems need to be replaced with ones that would suit you better.

Re: Analyze this...

there is a lot in this dream to analyse but a quick interpretation....(not my forte....dream interprtation that is).

Lets start with the cafe....you stopped there and it was grotty....

There is something that is not in line in your life with what you feel to be true to you. It could be considered a rest, recuperation on your path in life and possibly a turning point too. I mean you get to this service station you do not like what you see and therefore a wish to change.

(You will have to forgive me this little bit because I know how alternitive technology minded you are). Lets say that the snow and Ice are slippery surfaces as you have said.....the steep hill being a change of mind which you believe to be too incredible to believe and the lorries or trucks being driven by animals a metaphore for old technology being applied to new applications.

Subconsiously you cannot quite believe that there is a future here.....all these people are nuts .....

Yet this is the road you travel down, are meant to travel down but you keep resisting it because it seems foolish?

Re: Analyze this...

The best thing to probably do is go through and analyze it yourself. I dunno, but I've always considered dreams to be personal things; as in each part will symbolize something for you, that might be different for another person in your dreams. For example, the road you mention could be "the road of life" as was mentioned by Strangevisitor for you, or it could signify how tough it is to get to the nearest Walmart when applied to me :)

That's just my opinion though. You can take it or leave it ;)

Re: Analyze this...

Bernard,

Is amazing what anothers perspective can show. Is very accurate to probably more my life now that I am now aware of but, quite possibly, was subconsciously going through at the time.

Mostly the dream was beyond bizarre to me, I've had some weird ones but this was surreal, I could really hear their strained noises coming down the hill and struggling with these massive trailers. I think that was quite disturbing as I'd never really noticed sounds in my dreams that prominently.

Because of this it just stuck as really odd and has never sunk in. The point of a change I feel I go through occasionaly, once or twice a year. Often now I almost feel these times coming or spot them as the change has occured. Events seem to conspire, things build up at these turnover points and they often occur at natural changing points also, like seasons or a full moon has been there a few times. A point where one part of my life is finished and a new part is starting is probably the best way to describe it, often there is an interest or a problem resolved. I don't know if this is part of learning and is in my mind where I feel I've 'discovered' something new or some natural process in life, probably some from column A and some from column B, but I really feel that the world we live in is trying to push us in the right direction somehow.

Is interesting that you see the mix of old and new technology, has always been... with me, I guess is the way to say it. Was brought up in the sticks but still near town, so I think it has given me an appreciation of nature and balance yet not been too isolated from real life, n there was always a lot of junk / scrap around, old vans and bits of motors and machinery left waiting to be scrapped eventually, was a haven for an inquisitive kid.

I do think everyone is nuts, to a certain degree, some more than others, I also include myself in that. The place we live in is a madhouse, but if it was any different it would be boring and we'd never learn a thing, as a species we're probably teenage attempting to grow into adolescence, I wouldn't be suprised if many species never made it past this point. Like everything in nature there are check points and means of disposing of the weak or foolhardy. I'd like to think we'll get through it, but do wonder at the cost...

The resistance, also interesting, is definitely the way I do things, always the hard way, is how I was brought up, but not deliberate and punishingly hard. I think it's the best way to learn a subject. Discovering something from the bottom up and making mistakes and figuring them out yourself, with guidance is fine so long as they don't give answers, gives a full and experienced knowledge of the subject. In my experience, it tends to stick and related problems can often be identified at the point which is causing the problem, and instinctively rather than through sometimes drawn out logical process...

Again, very accurate, or maybe I'm slotting the interpretaion into areas of my life that fit, either way very thought provoking, cheers.. hope nobody minds me spilling out onto the page here :D

Re: Analyze this...

I agree with Jay. In the end, it is the dreamer who interperts the dream (makes the choice on what to believe and do) but like most things in life it doesn't hurt to ask for help (like six said). I've had times where I've had a really hard problem and asked someone for help even though what they said wasn't exactly the correct answer but it provided enough of a new point of view to get me to the answer. Sometimes you need to look at something from a new angle to get your brain working.
