Well...since I like studying the supernatural...are there any SAFE ways for me to meet them?

Start by researching the subject, knowledge will be your best protection.

This person (and some of her students) helped me out some 18 or so years ago.

She's the Genuine Article.

From there she can give you the very best guidance, to point you in the correct direction.

NEVER ASSUME THAT ANY SPIRIT IS GOOD...Unless you have experience,
experience takes time to evolve into knowledge.

This is a source where I eventually went for learning.

demonology - Google Search

I've learned the differences in spirit manifestations throughout life
by experiencing the realities that come with it.

As far as protecting oneself....I would advise to NOT GO THERE(!)
until you research the field first.
THE absolute BEST protection is to not 'Go There'...Period.

I received my Blessings to deal with these things from the Holy Christian Church.

You may offer spirits (Faeries...Elementals.....Djinn.....etc) all the food you want,
but would you really know just what (or WHOM) you are enticing into your life?

There's more to Divination...Conjuring...Scrying....Ouija....Etc,
than meets the eye. Don't open doors or lay out the welcome mat
until you're prepared to deal with something that could not only harm you,
but could ALSO harm your family, friends, anyone you know....even your pets!

Knowledge is definitely power in this case.
Learn before you proceed.
IMHO.

If you do this every day, then they will appear as specks of lights with sparkles around them.

This is fairly common almost anywhere the Spiritual are known to be.

Bright white....sometimes with a beautiful bluish tint are (usually) the good ones.

What would I see? I’m skeptical

Skepticism is a good and valid trait to have!

Although I do investigations into the paranormal (at times),
it is always best to go in using a critical mind.

90% of what some might call a haunting
turns out to be nothing more than a water pipe...or old appliances...etc, making noise.
