Sounds like your typical Saturday night sci-fi movie. Great way to end up with a dark dead world like in the Matrix, minus the machines.

Oh and let alone the fact it's the dumbest idea ever. I mean, what could possibly go wrong?

Entire species can go extinct from a couple degrees difference, and wouldn't this be a UN issue? How can one country decide the state of an entire planet?

I would ask the USA government the same question !

In my opinion, our natural resource of light shouldn't be tampered with.

'Research published in 2018 suggested that artificially cooling Earth could destroy our planet if the process is abruptly stopped.

A study found that if the aerosol approach is attempted and then suddenly halted, the planet could warm 10 times faster than normal.'

'Experts have previously warned the technique is a 'risky strategy' that could wreak havoc on our weather patterns, triggering severe droughts or devastating cyclones. '

'The study from Rutgers University in New Jersey found that suddenly halting so-called 'solar geoengineering' would have severe impacts on our climate.

The stoppage would drastically accelerate climate change, with severe consequences for the planet's wildlife, researchers said.'

'Rapid warming after stopping geoengineering would be a huge threat to the natural environment and biodiversity,' study coauthor Professor Alan Robock said.

'If geoengineering ever stopped abruptly, it would be devastating, so you would have to be sure that it could be stopped gradually, and it is easy to think of scenarios that would prevent that.

'Imagine large droughts or floods around the world that could be blamed on geoengineering, and demands that it stop. Can we ever risk that?'

It doesn't seem that the idea has been completely thought through, imo.

Then again,
maybe this truly brings about the Biblical event of (the) Three days of Darkness.

?

Yikes. That's sort of eerie. Are scientists this stupid? Food chains would be destroyed. Our planet can't handle this sudden change.
What happened to real science? At the moment science = politics.

I won't get started on that notion.....Let's just say that I kicked most academia out of my life.....(Even doctors).

Precisely.

As for the "dimming of the sun" rhetoric, well, Seeing.....Is Believing.
I don't believe a word of it......But that will never stop me from looking into these things.

Of course. We need to study this and learn the implications. Always question what they tell us!

IMHO, Earth repairs herself.

We should be asking: WHY is this happening. Maybe melting the icecaps will bring MORE GREENERY to heal the CO2.
We spend so much time destroying the vegetation that cleans the air and supplies oxygen. Earth's response? Grow more.
The way to do it? Unfreeze what was once there.

Humans need to ADAPT and change:

Homes built partially underground for efficiency and to allow vegetation to grow on top of them. It would even save them
from tornadoes and hurricanes. It also provides insulation.

Skyscrapers should include vegetation like all those sci-fi photos show.

More grass, less concrete.

It won't make changes overnight, but we have to start somewhere. But these methods won't make companies rich. Unforunately, greed
is the cause, not cows. Not plastic straws. GREED.

If the planet is cooled by blocking the sun, oil consumption will increase by an equal amount to cancel out any gains, using a greenwashed system of carbon credits. Then we get oven temperatures when the cooling stops.
