Greetings

Hello Thomas,

Welcome to our community. I suspect you have both good and bad news for us. As I am exhausted by discussions regarding my immediate future, please give us the good news first.

I do have one question for you in two parts. First, if you were to choose just one emotion that motivates you most, which would it be? You may only pick one. And be as blatantly honest as I know you are. Would that emotion be Shame, Anger, or Anxiety?

Then, can you describe an event in your early childhood that might be responsible for said motivating emotion? And we love longer answers here as we are quite fond of words. Thank you!

cerial,

I think as you do. Students of the Industrial Revolution have an interesting way of explaining the impact of the socio- and technological advances of the mid-19th century. If you were to take an individual living in 1820 and send him back to 1320 he might have a little difficulty with the language but no more than idiom and accent--he would thrive in the society and find his way very well.

You take that same man and put him 50 years in the future and he is lost beyond recovery. He cannot find comparable work for his skills and he would be overwhelmed by the changes most of the new technologies had placed on daily life.

You and I are probably in a similar stretch of history. Imagine a grandparent at the age of 20 in 1950 being sent here to 2004. Imagine just the adjustment for credit cards/debit cards alone? I am getting off topic. Sorry.

Thomas,

Greetings to you. If you hold a doctorate in Physics, could you please explain how time travel is possible? Also what powers your vehicle? Thank you.

1. What kind of religious and science lessons or teachings do they have in your timeline?

2. What kind of entertainment and work do they have in your timeline?

thanks for listening and thanks for your time and patience well I will talk with you later and thanks for your information to me and the rest on this forum!

I am unsure of how I can explain this to you, but I will try to the best of my ability.

First of all, my name is Thomas Edward Cousins. I have been browsing the Internet recently and have arrived here out of interest. I would also like to share my story with you, and possibly engage in any questions that you may like to ask about me.

As I have already stated above, my full name is Thomas Edward Cousins. I was born in year 2403 on the 17th of November. I grew up in the city of London with both of my parents who are named Janice and Martin.
My childhood was like any other; doing every day activities such as playing with friends and going to school. The primary school I went to up until the age of 11 was called 'Broadhurst', which I lived close by. I continued going to this school until I moved on to secondary education. I then studied at a school called the 'Radcliff' until the age of 18. I then moved to university to study physics, finally becoming a doctorate of the subject.
As I had become a doctorate of physics, I soon found a variety of jobs i could pursue. I finally chose to apply for the vacant space at the 'National Time Travel Corporation', which researches old and new ways of travelling through time. The corporation is funded by the goverment, which restricts the use of time travel to avoid any possible dangers that time travel may encounter. To enforce this, the goverment had set various laws.
At university, I specialised in the actual process of time travel, so my job was to explore other methods and possibilities that did not exist or hadn't been implemented. As well as this, I was also asked to test on numerous occasions a number of different machines, that had been modified differently to achieve different results of time travel. Through the course of my job, I made several controlled missions through time that were closely monitored by a panel of other experts. As I wasn't fully qualified to travel through time for long periods, I only made short trips that lasted for roughly 2-3 weeks.
This is where I come to the final part of the story, when I travelled back from the year 2434, in a machine that had been modified with new materials and electronics. These were all things that had been under development with the help of the other colleagues in my department.
I arrived here at precisely 8:07am on the 23rd of October with two other colleagues. We are set to return back to our timeline at exactly 10:34pm on the 18th of November. As I have already stated above, I am here only to test the modified time machine, and I am here for no other purpose. While I am here, I expect to just enjoy my surroundings and communicate with other people.
If you would like me to answer any questions regarding my story or my colleagues, I would happily respond the best I can.

Hello!

Here are some questions:

1. Where are you staying at the moment? At a hotel in London? In what way are you connecting to the internet?

2. Roughly, how much space does your time machine take while on the ground here?

3. Please give us a brief description of how your time machine operates and how it is powered.

4. I take it since you have the technology to travel in time you also have the science to describe or understand what time itself is. What have you learnt about the universe and how it works up to your time (the we don't already know back here)?

5. Did anyone between this time and your time come up with anything of scientific importance you could describe to us?

6. How come the english language hasn't changed notacibly in the 400 years leading up to your time? In this time the language changes ALOT all the time. When reading a 50 years old text here is a really good example, even more so - reading a 400 year old text.

Kindest regards, Fringan

1 - Where are you staying? (i.e., apartment, vacant house, etc.).
2 - What can you tell us of 21st century history? (major events, etc.).
3 - Does our history match that of your timeline? (I think that's what the divergence question above meant...)
4 - What major physics breakthroughs happen this century? (and/or within the decade)

Greetings

I will try and answer every question you ask, so I will respond to each individual person.

bearish 123- Yes, there is an American president between 2015-2020 but I am unsure which 'great lakes' you have mentioned. No, eastern Canada or central America have not joined to the United States of America. The United States of America first visited mars in the year 2018. As for terraforming, scientists have come to the conclusion that Mars is impossible to terraform. Not for the lack of technology, but a significant lack of gravity.

CaryP- Creativity is not beneficial for a tale such as mine, as I have nothing to create. The 'National Time Travel Corporation' in my opinion, is a perfectly reasonable name. I also fail to understand what you mean by "next time".

The Ruffneck- There is an only a small divergence of exactly 2 minutes between 2004 and 2434, as I have arrived at exactly the same place I left from. I began my journey through time at exactly 8:09am in London, but arrived precisely 2 minutes before at 8:07am.

Snow Fire Watches- I do not know your current understanding, as I know very little about the scientific knowledge in the year 2004. This is why I am using the Internet; to hopefully achieve a better idea of what is it like. The breakthrough to time travel has no specific date, but it known that experiments took place around 2210. It is not known weather these experiments were successful, as they were denied by the government. I've also heard these experiments caused a lot of international feuds, as well as many other problems. I am travelling on a very similar timeline to my own, meaning there will only be a few noticeable differences. As I was born in the year 2434, I do not know every single major event that happened. As you will not live until 2343, it really isn't necessary to know events that you will not live to see. I do know one major event that takes place 19 years from now, but I do not wish to frighten anyone that may be affected by it.

cerial- We use a highly complex machine to travel through time. As for providing pictures of my machine, I am currently considering this with my colleagues who are with me. I will only provide pictures of my machine I feel I can trust those who obtain them. Broad regions of exposed ice were discovered on Titan. It was also discovered that Titan harboured microbial life. You are right in saying that the English language has developed hugely, and has seen a number of changes. Have you ever thought that the English language has its limitations? There is only so much something can change. This is why I am able to communicate effectively, as the English language hasn't changed too dramatically.

August- I find your question very interesting. I've thought about it carefully, and I believe that anxiety motivates more than the other emotions. I had a reasonably normal childhood, and was brought up by two loving parents. Although they were very kind to me, and tried to give me anything I wanted, they also wanted me to achieve too much in my education. If I wasn't the best in my school year, then it wasn't good enough. This is why my childhood was filled with a great deal of anxiety; I never wanted to disappoint my parents. This is why I feel anxiety motivates me to do the best I can.

StarLord- As this will take quite a long time to answer, I will explain how time travel is possible in another post. I will also explain how my machine works. I will try to answer this question as soon as possible, but I would also need to provide pictures for a good explanation.

Frog186- Science lessons consist of chemistry, biology and physics. The amount of detail and complexity taught depends mainly on the level of education you are currently at. People in 2434 do many different things for entertainment. From what I?ve seen so far, we do very similar things. Sport, theatre, and music are just a few examples.

I have tried to answer every question thoroughly, and I am very sorry if I have missed something out. I will answer any other questions later on, so please be patient with me.

I would also like to point out that I also know very little about 2004. If you could kindly give me any advice that would help my visit, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Thomas Edward Cousins (National Time Travel Corporation)

Thomas,

thank you for your kind reply. Looking forward to your explanations. As Far as advice:

If they try to hand you coins made of wood for change, be firm and stand your ground. Sometimes it is better to be percieved as unknowing, it beats being a target for the ones that do not. Not all flowers that you see are of the genus that they look like. If you wait long enough, even the unmoving rock will screw up. Eat where the honest poor people eat, it's much cheaper, the conversation is way more entertaining, they want your repeat business so chances are, the food will not kill you.
