Trump has kept 15.7% of promises so far.

Obama kept 48.4% of promises.

The "Trump-o-meter you're using there, it counts his statement that he would temporarily stop all Muslims from entering the country as a "campaign promise" (unfulfilled) when, in context, it is clearly just rhetoric addressing the current (at the time) terrorist attack in California.
They don't count Trump's travel ban as a kept promise though.
So, the numbers there are just stupid.

Like I said, I go back to Eisenhower. I actually campaigned for Barry Goldwater at a polling place in Dallas Texas when I was in the second grade. I've paid some attention.

Nobody in my lifetime has addressed what they said in their campaign like Trump has. I'm not the only one that has noticed this:

Granted Trump is only in year 2 of his term, so there is plenty of room for increase, decrease, or status quo. Plus the Obama numbers account for 2 terms, so he had much more time to work with. I wish there was a comparison between Trump and HW Bush just for a recent gauge of Republican presidents (I didn't say GW Bush only because I fear that the promises kept would be substantially lower than HW Bush).



Careful, @Tweety, I've said things on here like "I'm a left-leaning moderate" (which I am), but then I say things against Trump or the GOP and I'm effectively labeled as a socialist hippie foraging for the destruction of the human race. Politics are weird (and I have a BA in Political Science).

Also Trump has kept his promise to bring our boys home out of Syria and Afghanistan.... Im happy enough with that. Let him have his wall I dont really care. I mean I think it will only serve to restrict our freedom of movement and lock US citizens in the USA and help motivate factors leading to the next revolution.... it would also help cubas economy because every dedicated illegal will just start boating to cuba to go through florida but it will no doubt slow the illegal immigration flow from the south...… BUT SO COULD PROPER MAN POWER ON THE BORDER... but nah, fuck that. lets build a wall... fuck it.. Its whats gonna happen.

All the same he is finally FINNALLY bringing the troops home.

I have not looked too deep into PolitiFact's process, but, if genuine, it can be a good resource. The problem is that there really isn't a completely non-partisan news source as each has an agenda backed by the political lean of its investors/owner.

FYI... they did count Trump's travel ban as a promise kept. Maybe the numbers aren't as "stupid" as you perceive them to be.

It's important to consider the political lean of the writer here. The writer is decidedly conservative. Sure, he admits Trump lies, but he also puts more sugar on what Trump has done than need be.

That being said... every president makes campaign promises. Many of these promises are just rhetoric. Some are realistic. But many times, when a president first steps into the Oval Office, they realize that they can't or shouldn't keep campaign promises based on information that they receive while in office. To keep promises just to keep promises is foolish which I think Trump might be doing with his push for "the wall". I believe in strengthening our boarders too, but that goal can be accomplished similarly (or better) by hiring and training a larger force of Boarder Patrol officers as well as structural improvements where needed. Trump is shortsighted with his boarder plan and current pissy fit.

You know the ones that are so 'against' the border wall were the ones that were so 'for' the border wall...hypocrites. The only difference now is that they hate Trump more than they want the safety for the rest of us Americans...truly pathetic. The wall money is nothing compared to what is wasted on dumb studies or sent abroad. The Democrats, especially, and many Republicans have done nothing to deserve their pay. Others in the workforce are not paid for incompetence, why should these dumbasses be different. All of the weekend news shows are laughable how full of it they are...they are whiny little bitches, spreading their lies thru their one sided propaganda.
Note...I don't care what anyone thinks about my post...the reality of what I have said is there...wake up and you shall see.

Before the election Trump looked at all the statistics on what most of the people wanted in the US, mainly immigration control, and immediately he went about it....However, it did take him a year to get his own way, and thats what negotiation and determination does for you ..

I have worked for large corporations in my career with Trump management similarities. There will be alot of subordinates coming and going due to various reasons. Many will reach a level of incompetence and either quit or be fired. They may not agree with top management decisions so turnover will be expected. In the political world so many lie and cheat to get elected and continue to lie and cheat to stay in office...not Trump.
Trump is going to make some decisions that may not make everyone happy but these are business decisions that are good for the company or in this case country, not individuals or groups. We can't judge on the short term...many decisions take time to work out.

I'll agree with you with regard to the fact that lifelong politicians should know what they realistically can and cannot get done, but they lie just the same to get elected.

Let's not make Trump out to be a saint, though. Trump lied to get elected and he continues to lie. Trump has been dishonest in his business dealings for years using the leverage of litigation to get what he wants at a price he wants even if he agreed on a much higher or different price. You can't use those same tactics on a global stage (even though Trump is trying) because the result ends up on the battlefield rather than in a courtroom. He can only use the "my bomb is bigger than your bomb" for so long until someone calls his bluff.

The surprising thing is that business people have tried to run for president on numerous occasions in the past. It didn't work out. What Trump had that the others didn't was celebrity appeal. It remains to be seen whether the Democrats will try to counter that appeal in 2020 with their own "celebrity".

I said to my wife last night that Trump is going to get re-elected in 2020 (unless he's impeached). She thinks that there is no possible way it will happen. But it will. The Democrats have nothing to counter Trump. Nothing. And the Republicans don't have the balls to force Trump out of the party. Let's just hope that he listens to his military advisors for the next few years.
