Humble, indeed.

But, why would He want or need to?

Aren't we asked to have faith? Why do we even need to believe the Book then?

Blind Faith? Naw, only if you needd glasses to read. Hardly, a conscious guide to what a group of Jews, that became Christians, set up a LONG time ago as acceptable behavior that you'd not be punished for, being stoned or sent to Hell when you die. The Hell was a Christian notion, Good choice here though.Speaking of Hell...

I am in agreement. Faith in and of itself is the ability to believe in something you cannot see. Jesus showed himself to a doubting Thomas because that was the only way he would believe in Christ's resurrection. But basically Jesus said "blessed are those who have not seen and yet believed. It is easy to only hold on to cold hard "facts" that you can touch and see. But then what you see is what you get. Not much. But to have the ability of the child to believe with wonder...the whole universe is at their feet. No one believed the Wright brothers would fly... but they had faith in something no one had seen before and they flew. Life is an oyster waiting to be opening. Faith is the object we use to pry it open in order to gain the wealth of the pearl inside.

I've not personally used the Bible much in my lifetime as any particular source of inspiration, having become aware early in life that while there is truth in it, there is a lot that should be discarded. Like many Christians, I believe the OT is mostly null and void and serves mostly as a historical document other than a few books like Isaiah, Pslams etc. As for the NT, so much is left out (if we had all that Jesus taught it would have to be put in to many books; separate teaching for disciples, parables for the masses etc) and the a lot misinterpreted (Elijah not JTB come again according to more or less all Christians, denial of reincarnation) etc etc.

It seems to me that labelling Christians as blind believers is short sighted but rather that they are just like Jesus said- too unenlightened/unaware to understand anything, so they claim the Bible as their only source yet do not know they don't understand it.
