As I posted the other day when I reversed engineered the 2014 HDR that I bought from Steven this summer I was a bit taken back when I found the copper plate on the back side of the Perf. Board I think I will text Steven and see if he will enlighten me on its purpose. I was hesitant to ask him being concerned that it might upset him that I was copying his design.

How thick is that copper plate?

Einstein, you mentioned before that you were using rolled steel and that because it has carbon, it will heat up. Do you think a different material for the core of the electromagnet would help with the heating? I was thinking of making a core out of iron oxide and epoxy as a binder.

I think the ideal core material would be ferrite rod. But I've never seen it in 1 inch diameter. But if you can find real soft iron, it supposedly will not get hot. But that is pure iron. It's no longer made in the USA, and is not available here. I think soft iron is still available in the UK.
Try using "HEAT SINKS" They have been around for years and used effectively in amplifiers and transmitters etc...They are relatively cheap and a quick search on the internet will find many around..
Kind Regards

I'm guessing, it to be 26 to 28 ga. very thin and flexible, On the one I am presently building I am using 22ga.

nah Gibbs says that actually square wave power supplies work best due to harmonics. So a power inverter hooked to your car cigarette lighter would work best.

Remember the hdr works due to harmonics of the whole circuit. Even a small change in the resistance of the potentiometer designs screws it up. He has a special oscilloscope that measures the harmonics and their relationship to each other and he tweaks the design to match a spectrum of them.

havent youve seen my one drive yet all you need to know is on it even the more simplified drawings schematic of steven gibbs hdr unit from the internet by someone who had a hdr and drew it down just from looking inside his hdr unit

The HDR is made for US wall voltage 120 volt. From what I hear, the HDR will not work with voltage converters outside the US. The current is 60 cycles per second here in the US. I believe it is 50 cycles per second everywhere else in the world.
and yet steven gibbs sold a hdr to an australian and our australian voltage is 240vac at 50hz and it worked for that person still

Here is the schematic that I wound up using for the HDR I built.

i've built 3 hdr units from this schematic and have 3 or 4 more to build yet

So sorry for writing in an old conversation, I understand that's bad to do!
But I have been so interested in these HDR things since... Well, earlier when I found out about them.
The hand drawn schematic in the post above me seems really simple to make and someone like me should be able to make it...

But... strapping a wire around your head with 110 volts in it?? Is that safe?? Can I do anything to make this more physically safe? I think I can build it but I don't think I want to have 110 volts in something I make myself. That is sooo much power and I think I will die!

thats easy to fix just go to an aquarium place where they have fish tanks etc or auto place grab a peace of clear hosing that you can see through and cut a peace to the length you need then insert the time coil lead through it so this gives extra protection
