Ya, that Final Countdown movie was different, see the old WWII airplanes and jets taking off and the mayhem of some magnetic storm (I guess) out in the Ocean.

Oh, I almost forgot -- "Men in Black III" has time-travel in it.
Men In Black 3: Official Site

and a new one is coming out soon - "Loopers" movie staring Bruce Willis, and others.
(you can look that one up for a trailer of the movie.)

But all three "Men in Black" movies are funny.

Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones" has to be called back into service by Agent J (Will Smith)
in time. When K's life and the fate of the planet are put at stake, Agent J will have to travel
back in time to put things right. (I won't tell you how he time travels, but since they always
have gadgets (and small ones) there in the Agency, you'll just have to see the movie to find
out. K is working (and don't remember anything) as a Supervisor of a Post Office Branch.
Of course the rest of the workers are all extra-terrestrials working with him, but he does not
know that. He works at the front counter of a kind of small time and small post office when
he is found.

The best one perhaps out of the 3, but all have humor in them.

Here are all the movies I have seen and can remember. Few are 2-3 part TV Series. Some movies don't directly deal with Time Travel, but with Astral, Parallel timeline/reality, and simlar topics. Check them out on IMDB. I rated majority of them 8 or 8+ on IMDB.

  • Somewhere in time
  • Contact
  • K-PAX
  • Sliders
  • Timescape: Disasters in Time (Parallel Timelines movie!)
  • The Triangle (Series)
  • Langoliers (Vortex, time warp)
  • Butterfly Effect
  • Time Changer (made for TV movie)
  • Love Letter
  • Philadelphia Experiment
  • Time after Time
  • Time Machine (Original and new both are good)
  • Final Countdown
  • The Lost Room
  • Source Code
  • Another Earth
  • Time Traveler's Wife
  • Primer
  • Dejavu
  • Idiocracy
  • Back to the Future series
  • The Lakehouse
  • Paycheck
  • Frequency
  • Kate & Leopold
  • Happy Accidents
  • Altitude
  • Vanilla Sky
  • The Thirteenth Floor
  • Timeline
  • Premonition
  • Retroactive
  • Millenium
  • Slaughterhouse-Five
  • Flight of the Navigator
  • 12 Monkeys
  • Journeyman (Series) (seems good but I just discovered it today)
  • The Time Tunnel (Series from 1966, anyone heard of it?)
  • Quantum Leap (Series from 80s-90s, I just acquired it few wks ago but haven't seen)
  • Time Bandits
  • Peggy Sue Got Married (I was never able to find this online)

Adding to my extensive list, the movie "The Caller" is also an interesting movie. Worth checking out!!
It has to do with dimensional shifts and reminded me of "The Triangle" and "Frequency".

Need I mention GOLD member. I love time travel movies. However, most are an exaggeration of our past, and played for humor so we can laugh at our parents even. Like if they time travel to the 60's everyone is a hippie with a VW van.

Far out man. This is so groovy. Hey man, can you dig it?
THIS CAT IS OUT OF SIGHT - JUST PLAIN GONE!

Somewhere in Time -- one of my favorites.
Contact -- more about teleportation, I thought.
Butterfly Effect -- just very well written and explores the implications of messing with the past
Time After Time -- I can't remember the plot but loved this film as a child
Source Code -- a really good recent movie about time travel
Deja Vu -- hard to follow at first but ties up the time travel explanation very nicely.
Paycheck -- like the Butterfly Effect, well written and clever
Timeline -- memorable, I suppose "Army of Darkness" is a time travel movie too!
The Time Tunnel -- I loved "Lost in Space" and discovered this show a long time ago. Only now can we actually watch some of the shows. We have another discussion going on about the similarity of John Titor's military insignia patch and the time machine on this show.

The Caller? Never heard of it. It's a good movie?
