Notice that the germanium transistor have a better sensibility with low voltages, like the germanium diode in the crystal radio. You can replace it with old version of transistor , called simple magnetic amplifier. Just need a ferrite and 2k resistor and magnetic coupling. With this magnetic amplifier, the 0,2 v ggermanium sensibility vs 0,7v silicon sznsibility fall to 0 volts sensibility. The coil in my DTG stands one inch high, the diameter is one and a half inches, the spacers were made from plastic, and the the tubing is also made from plastic....The dimensions are not important, the way the coil is made up from four individual coils IS important....
The total impedance of the whole coil is not critical so it can be between 800 to 1000ohms...
My own DTG was built for portable use and thats the reason why its small, theres nothing to stop you from making a larger version..

Yes Steve, Germanium is supposed to contain faster than light Tachyons, although i dont recall Preston Nichols mentioning them in relation to a Time-Machine of his, although i could be wrong...IMHO, the Germanium SBT`s would be partly used in an electron tunnelling function, just the same as the DTG in this thread..
I dont see why any frequency doubler would be necessary, when all the frequencies that would be needed, are already within the SBT`s frequency range...Even IF higher frequencies were needed, they would come from the harmonics created by the SBT`s.. Remember Steve, the DTG is basically an oscillator that naturally produces harmonics..
