Re: Hello

So, where is the Proof? What have the ladies offered besides a third of war & peace and not a dram of evidence becides a chamberpot full of periods and poor excuses for information?

Re: Hello

This is an excerpt from Vernon Vinge's paper on the technological singularity, mentionned the potential for adapted animal brains for sentiency.

"Direct links into brains seem feasible, if the bit rate is low: given human learning flexibility, the actual brain neuron targets might not have to be precisely selected. Even 100 bits per second would be of great use to stroke victims who would otherwise be confined to menu-driven interfaces.
Plugging in to the optic trunk has the potential for bandwidths of 1 Mbit/second or so. But for this, we need to know the fine-scale architecture of vision, and we need to place an enormous web of electrodes with exquisite precision. If we want our high bandwidth connection to be _in addition_ to what paths are already present in the brain, the problem becomes vastly more intractable. Just sticking a grid of high-bandwidth receivers into a brain certainly won't do it. But suppose that the high-bandwidth grid were present while the brain structure was actually setting up, as the embryo develops. That suggests:
Animal embryo experiments. I wouldn't expect any IA success in the first years of such research, but giving developing brains access to complex simulated neural structures might be very interesting to the people who study how the embryonic brain develops. In the long run, such experiments might produce animals with additional sense paths and interesting intellectual abilities. "

Re: Hello

You could possibly whip up any kind of animal brain to be intelligent, but the main thing holding you back is cranial capacity.

Re: Hello

Consider Moore's law; if the amount of information storable on a defined area of microchip continues to increase at the rate Moore predicted (and so far it has), our ability to electronically store and transfer information will soon, if it has not already, exceed the biological capabilities of a human brain to do the same thing. Assuming our adaptions to the macaques brains are electronic 'plugins' as Vinge suggests, cranial capacity won't be an issue.

Re: Hello

Hmmm, won't wash imho, your forgetting integrating that contraption with a young soul. I don't see it working to well.

You want proof? You cant handle the proof. But if you insist, the girls wanted me to pass this along. I believe they are valet parkers at the Stardust on Titan.

Re: Hello

hey everybody, i'm new here.
I don't mean to be rude, but one of the first things i've noticed is an unpleasant, and unneeded amount of hostility regarding hoaxers. If it is a hoax, it will show in time, and demanding proof won't help that along. You old-timers on this forum should try to be more patient with people who claim to be time travelers. There is no reason to make visiting the forum an unfriendly experience. Treat others with respect, and be patient. If you were a time traveler, and you wanted to get to know more about the culture of a certain time, would your first priority be providing proof? Mine wouldn't. Patience.

Rostin, how is sex viewed in your time, and what measures are taken to keep it safe? How would you say human sexuality is different in your time than in this time? How do humans interact with dolphins?
