It takes me about 10 to 15 minutes. I've been practicing this for years off and on. I'll start by dislodging incoming thoughts until I can quiet my mind. I'm not successful every time though. How is everyone doing this in a matter of moments?! Y'all are masters or something.

Well, this thread has been here for a while. I wanted to wait to see how the responses would be. Since I have been of the belief that we are all the same. Apparently another belief of mine bites the dust. My time to still my mind has always been instantly. It is not stilling my mind that is my problem. It is keeping it still.

I would like to add some more points here.

How is your mind influencing you?

Think about it what is the mind doing at any one time?

What comes into your mind when you try to rest, if you are not a student of mediation.

The days thoughts, worries etc etc.

Turn the mind into a tool for yourself, it is untapped.

The ego manipulates the mind, reverse this and overcome the ego.

It takes some work, but it is achievable and this does lead to a better life.

  1. I am my mind, nothing else!
  2. being me therefor being certain of everything.
  3. the ego is me, the personality.
  4. think logically, and you become what you define as a better self.
