I agree. I don't believe Bush lied intentionally, he was just given bad information. What pissed me off was the egotistically arrogant way he jumped into a war, citing that rediculous phrase 'shock and awe'... Yeah, that tactic totally worked. The war is now won, Iraq has a new government and the soldiers have come home and a country mostly full of innocent people isn't in complete tatters..... Lies have nothing to do with this; the perception that technology, bravado, money, forced ideals and the flawed god complex adopted by developed nations to win over the people they are trying to 'liberate' is actually quite tragic. Why should a nation of people suffer (on both sides) just because a bunch of white-haired men say they know better - only to find out a few years later, that they didn't. I see these politicians still trying to explain away these mistakes as a simple matter of misleading intelligence.... We went to war by mistake... Wtf is that????? I still can't really get my head round that fact.

I have no time for any government who use events outside their country to proliferate their own political agenda. Bush and his cronies are greedy, arrogant, self absorbed, self obsessed, malignant, domineering, bloated old men unworthy of the 'adulation' they recieve from half of their country.

That wasn't OBL in the video, close, but no cigar. The audio track was also so bad, that independent translators said they couldn't really tell what was being said. Check it out. Even Mr Magoo would have to say that Osama 'E' stands out like a sore thumb, and this is the man on the \"confession\" tape. Between the nose and the cheeks it is clear that this man is NOT Osama.

There is clearly good reason to doubt the tape. There is excessive noise on the audio track, making it impossible to really hear what is being said. Given that the tape was recorded in an area supposedly devoid of audio urban signature, there should have been little ambient noise, yet the speech is masked with a great deal of noise. Then there is that gap in the audio track, reminiscent of Nixon's missing 18 minutes, and the truths it once contained which are lost forever to history.

Doubts have already been raised regarding the correct translation of the speaker's words into \"We\", when his words could also mean \"They\".

But there are very good reasons to suspect that the tape is not what the US Government claims it to be. In the tape, Osama supposedly states that he knew of the attack on the WTC 5 days in advance, yet we know from the preparations inside the United States that the plan had been in existence for much longer than that. The records of those flight schools where the hijackers supposedly trained have been confiscated under the watchful eye of Jeb Bush, Governor of Florida and brother to the President. Will the Bush administration now claim that the hijackers learned to fly a passenger jet in just 5 days?

Likewise, The translation of the Osama tape has him stating that the hijackers did not know they were about to die, yet the letters the FBI claims to have found written by the hijackers indicate the exact opposite. Then too there were the numerous words added to the translation in parenthesis to alter and redirect the meaning of the translated words. Finally, this was not the first video tape claiming to be evidence against Osama to surface, and the public is well aware that the claims made regarding the earlier \"confession\" tape, including a claim that Osama had nukes, were created by the translator, not actually stated by Osama.

As quoted in the Associated Press, Al-Muhajiroun is reporting that the video tape is actually years old; the target being discussed is not the World Trade Towers, but a target inside Saudi Arabia. Even hard line secular Pakistanis are unconvinced. Iqbal Haider, a former senator from the party of ousted prime minister Benazir Bhutto, said he found it hard to believe that bin Laden would allow himself to be filmed confessing to the crime. \"It is hard to believe that a man who masterminds the September attacks which such secrecy and finesse could be that stupid and imprudent,\" he said. \"I hate Osama and the Taliban because they inflicted incalculable damage on Muslims ... but it is hard to digest that he can be such a fool.\"

The figure claimed to be Osama appears to write notes with his right hand, yet the FBI's description of Osama indicates he is left-handed. The man in the video wears a ring which does not appear on other confirmed photos of Osama.

The day the towers went down, the BBC aired some footage of Arabs dancing and cheering in the street supposedly celebrating the 9/11 tragedy. A few days after that, some journalists reported that the segment was actually stock footage from something completely different recorded ten years before. The BBC apologised but gave no reason for it.

It seems even the BBC aren't immune to the power of political manipulation.

THE FIVE ISRAELIS ARRESTED ON 9-11

On the day of the 9-11 attacks, former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was asked what the attack would mean for US-Israeli relations. His quick reply was: "It's very good??.Well, it's not good, but it will generate immediate sympathy (for Israel)"



As the world watched in disbelief and asked the question...

A Mossad surveillance team made quite a public spectacle of themselves on 9-11. Police received several calls from angry New Jersey residents claiming ?middle-eastern? men with a white van were videotaping the disaster with shouts of joy and mockery. (1)

[T]hey were seen by New Jersey residents on Sept. 11 making fun of the World Trade Center ruins and going to extreme lengths to photograph themselves in front of the wreckage. (3)

Witnesses saw them jumping for joy in Liberty State Park after the initial impact (4). Later on, other witnesses saw them celebrating on a roof in Weehawken, and still more witnesses later saw them celebrating with high fives in a Jersey City parking lot. (5)


"It looked like they're hooked in with this. It looked like they knew what was going to happen when they were at Liberty State Park." (6)

One anonymous phone call to the authorities actually led them to close down all of New York's bridges and tunnels. The mystery caller told the 9-1-1 dispatcher that a group of Palestinians were mixing a bomb inside of a white van headed for the Holland Tunnel. Here?s the transcript from NBC News:

Dispatcher: Jersey City police.
Caller: Yes, we have a white van, 2 or 3 guys in there, they look like Palestinians and going around a building.
Caller: There's a minivan heading toward the Holland tunnel, I see the guy by Newark Airport mixing some junk and he has those sheikh uniform.
Dispatcher: He has what?
Caller: He's dressed like an Arab. (7)

(*Writer?s note: Why would this mystery caller specifically say that these ?Arabs? were Palestinians? How would he know that? Palestinians usually dress in western style clothes, not ?sheikh uniforms?)

Based on that phone call, police then issued a ?Be-on-the-Lookout? alert for a white mini-van heading for the city?s bridges and tunnels from New Jersey. When a van fitting that exact description was stopped just before crossing into New York, the suspicious ?middle-easterners? were apprehended. Imagine the surprise of the police officers when these terror suspects turned out to be Israelis!
According to ABC?s 20/20, when the van belonging to the cheering Israelis was stopped by the police, the driver of the van, Sivan Kurzberg, told the officers:


"We are Israelis. We are not your problem. Your problems are our problems. The Palestinians are your problem." (8)

The police and FBI field agents really became suspicious when they found maps of the city with certain places highlighted, box cutters (the same items that the hijackers supposedly used), $4700 cash stuffed in a sock, and foreign passports. Police also told the Bergen Record that bomb sniffing dogs were brought to the van and that they reacted as if they had smelled explosives. (9)

The FBI seized and developed their photos, one of which shows Sivan Kurzberg flicking a cigarette lighter in front of the smouldering ruins in an apparently celebratory gesture. (10)

The Jerusalem Post later reported that a white van with a bomb was stopped as it approached the George Washington Bridge. Of Course, the Post did not reveal the true ethnicity of the suspects. Here?s what the Jerusalem Post reported on September 12, 2001:

?American security services overnight stopped a car bomb on the George Washington Bridge"

?The van, packed with explosives, was stopped on an approach ramp to the bridge. Authorities suspect the terrorists intended to blow up the main crossing between New Jersey and New York, Army Radio reported.? (11)


TCM Breaking News reported that the van was laden down with tonnes of explosives (12). (*Writer's note: Is it pure coincidence that 'al Qaeda' use huge truck bombs as a hallmark of their terror campaign?)

What's really intriguing is that ABC's 20/20 (13), the New York Post (14), and the New Jersey Bergen Record (15) all clearly and unambiguously reported that a white van with Israelis was intercepted on a ramp near Route 3, which leads directly to the Lincoln Tunnel.

But the Jerusalem Post, Israeli National News (Arutz Sheva) (16), and Yediot America, (17) all reported, just as clearly and unambiguously, that a white van with Israelis was stopped on a ramp leading to the George Washington Bridge, which is several miles north of the Lincoln Tunnel.

It appears as if there may actually have been two white vans involved, one stopped on each crossing. This would not only explain the conflicting reports as to the actual location of the arrests, but would also explain how so many credible eye-witnesses all saw celebrating "middle-easterners" in a white van in so many different locations. It also explains why the New York Post and Steve Gordon (lawyer for the 5 Israelis) originally described how three Israelis were arrested but later increased the total to five.

Perhaps one van was meant to drop off a bomb while the other was meant to pick up the first set of drivers while re-crossing back into New Jersey? If a van was to be used as a parked time-bomb on the GW Bridge, then certainly the drivers would need to have a "get-away van" to pick them up and escape. And notice how the van (or vans) stayed away from the third major crossing -the Holland Tunnel- which was where the police had originally been directed to by that anti-Palestinian 9-1-1 "mystery caller". A classic misdirection play.

From there, the story gets becomes even more suspicious. The Israelis worked for a Weehawken moving company known as Urban Moving Systems. An American employee of Urban Moving Systems told the The Record of New Jersey that a majority of his co-workers were Israelis and they were all joking about the attacks.

The employee, who declined to give his name said: "I was in tears. These guys were joking and that bothered me." These guys were like, "Now America knows what we go through." (18)

A few days after the attacks, Urban Moving System's Israeli owner, Dominick Suter, dropped his business and fled the country for Israel. He was in such a hurry to flee America that some of Urban Moving System's customers were left with their furniture stranded in storage facilities (19).

It was later confirmed that the five detained Israelis were in fact Mossad agents (20). They were held in custody for 71 days before being quietly released. Some of the movers had been kept in solitary confinement for 40 days.(21)

How did they know there would be an event to document on 9/11?

It doesn?t take Sherlock Holmes to connect the dots of the dancing Israeli Mossad agents - here's the most logical scenario:

1. The Israeli ?movers? cheered the 9-11 attacks to celebrate the successful accomplishment of the greatest spy operation ever pulled off in history.
2. One of them, or an accomplice, then calls a 9-1-1 police dispatcher to report Palestinian bomb-makers in a white van headed for the Holland Tunnel.

3. Having thus pre-framed the Palestinians with this phone call, the Israeli bombers then head for the George Washington Bridge instead, where they will drop off their time-bomb van and escape with Urban Moving accomplices.

4. But the police react very wisely and proactively by closing off ALL bridges and tunnels instead of just the Holland Tunnel. This move inadvertently foils the Israelis? misdirection play and leads to their own capture and 40 day torture.

5. To cover up this story, the U.S. Justice Department rounds up over 1000 Arabs for minor immigration violations and places them in New York area jails. The Israelis therefore become less conspicuous as the government and media can now claim that the Israelis were just immigration violators caught in the same dragnet as many other Arabs.

6. After several months, FBI and Justice Department ?higher-ups? are able to gradually push aside the local FBI agents and free the Israelis quietly.


The US government immediately attributed Osama bin Laden to the 9/11 attacks even though he had no previous record of doing anything on this scale. Immediately after the Flight 77 hit WTC 1 CIA Director George Tenet said "You know, this has bin Laden's fingerprints all over it." (23)

The compliant mainstream media completely ignored the Israeli connection. Immediately following the 9-11 attacks, the media was filled with stories linking the attacks to bin Laden. TV talking-heads, ?experts?, and scribblers of every stripe spoon-fed a gullible American public a steady diet of the most outrageous propaganda imaginable.

We were told that the reason bin Laden attacked the USA was because he hates our ?freedom? and ?democracy?. The Muslims were ?medieval? and they wanted to destroy us because they envied our wealth, were still bitter about the Crusades, and were offended by Britney Spears shaking her ###### and ass all over the place!

But bin Laden strongly denied any role in the attacks and suggested that Zionists orchestrated the 9-11 attacks. The BBC published bin Laden's statement of denial in which he said:

"I was not involved in the September 11 attacks in the United States nor did I have knowledge of the attacks. There exists a government within a government within the United States. The United States should try to trace the perpetrators of these attacks within itself; to the people who want to make the present century a century of conflict between Islam and Christianity. That secret government must be asked as to who carried out the attacks.

The American system is totally in control of the Jews, whose first priority is Israel, not the United States." (24)

To date, the only shred of ?evidence? to be uncovered against Bin Laden was a barely audible fuzzy amateur video that the Pentagon just happened to find "lying around" in Afghanistan. How very convenient (and how very fake!).

White House reneges on proof of bin Laden?s guilt

The administration?s lame attempt to justify its about-face indicates three things: first, it has no serious evidence linking bin Laden directly to the September 11 atrocities; second, it is in considerable internal disarray; and third, it feels it can lie without limit and get away with it because it has the services of a thoroughly reactionary and controlled media.


There is no evidence, be it hard or circumstantial, to link the Al Qaeda "terrorist network" to these acts of terror, but there is a mountain of evidence, both hard and circumstantial, which suggests that the Zionist Mafia has been very busy framing Arabs for terror plots against America.

One last thing. At 09:40 on 9/11 Abu Dhabi television reported that the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine claimed responsiblity for the attacks (25). This claim was immediately denied by the DFLP leader Qais abu Leila who said it had always opposed "terror attacks on civilian targets, especially outside the occupied territories." (26)

Why would a Palestinian organisation comprising of less than 500 people (27) make the suicidal move of immediately claiming responsibility for the attacks?

One thing is for sure - if the the Israelis had successfully framed the Palestinians for the 9/11 attacks then Ariel Sharon and his government would have had the perfect excuse to expel the Palestinian population from the West Bank and Gaza Strip because the citizens there would have been labelled as terrorists.

Sharon and the other Israeli leaders aspire to fulfill what the goals of the political Zionist movement have been since its origin a century ago: to turn all of historic Palestine into an exclusively Jewish state. A central tenet of the Zionist ideology is expressed in the racist slogan, "A land without people for a people without a land." (28)

The 9-11 hijackers were Al Queda. The money trails show the hijackers took flight lessons paid for by Al Queda. Numerous witnesses who called from the Hijacked planes describe their hijackers. The black boxes recovered clearly describe extremist muslim suicide activity. The hijackers left martyrdom tapes. Al-Queda has long since declared war on US. Al-Queda has long history of attacking US property (even a previous attempt at the WTC).

I can't believe there is even any doubt about who is responsible for 9-11.

Did Israel feel they might get more sympathy because of 9-11? Absolutely. If they know about in advance, would they warn us? Probly, but it is not a given.

What's next? Oh, I know all the beheadings in Iraq were really either faked or done by Mousad.

As far a Oboma Bin Laden not directly confessing, why should he? Other than crystal clear evidence the 9-11 was planned, executed and performed by Al-Queda operatives, his confession would only serve to extinguish nutty whacko conspiracy theories Israel was really behind 9-11...and why would he want that?

Actually this discussions has been VERY good for this thread, because it proves my point: People who are against the war in Iraq will say ANYTHING to persuade people against taking action against people who have sworn to kill us. Perhaps, if the theory that Israel was behind 9-11 was written down in crayon and given to Dan Rather, he would do several 60 minutes shows about it. Hence the lowering of the credibility of LEGITIMATE arguments against the war in Iraq.

Where we are right now in the war in Iraq is proving the wars legitimacy. Who are we currently fighting in Iraq? NOT IRAQIs! We are fighting the very people who would love nothing more than to listen to someone scream as there head is being sawed off. We are fighting the very people who would shoot a child in the back who was running away after his school was invaded. We are fighting the people who would strap a bomb on themselves and then detonate it amongst a group of children who are having candy passed out to them. The people we are fighting in Iraq are not Iraqis, they are foreign fighters (from other countries than Iraq) coming to fight Americans, who happen to be in Iraq.

Basically they WHOLE thing if F'd up. My only consolation is that if they (the foreign fighters) were not doing this in Iraq, they would most definitely (eventually) unless something was done about it, doing suicide bombings in the malls in the USA on Halloween night while our kids are gathered for trick or treating.

A teacher of mine, here in Brazil, has videotapes recorded in 1991, with the very same images; he's been sending emails to CNN, Globo (the major TV network in Brazil) and newspapers, denouncing what I myself classify as a crime against the public opinion. If anyone of you has access to this kind of files, serch for it. In the meanwhile, I'll try to 'put my hands' on a copy of this tape.

CNN did not air decade-old footage of Palestinians dancing in the streets. Eason Jordan, CNN's Chief News Executive, confirmed that the video used on CNN was in fact shot on Tuesday, 11 September 2001, in East Jerusalem by a Reuters TV crew, not during the Persian Gulf conflict of 1990-91 ? a fact proved by its inclusion of comments from a Palestinian praising Osama Bin Laden (whose name was unlikely to have come up ten years earlier in connection with the invasion and liberation of Kuwait) as well as the appearance in the video of post-1991 automobiles. The person who made the claim quoted above has since recanted.

(The argument that the footage CNN used could not possibly be real because it showed Palestinians in broad daylight not long after the attack ? even though Palestinian territory is several time zones ahead of New York ? is not valid. Eastern Daylight Time in the United States is six hours behind the area of the Middle East referred to as Palestine. Thus, when the first attack occurred in New York just before 9:00 A.M., Palestine time would have been 3:00 P.M., and the area would still have been bathed in plenty of mid-afternoon sunlight.)

Reuters, the international news agency whose camera crew shot the footage, issued the following statement:

Reuters rejects as utterly baseless an allegation being circulated by e-mail and the Internet claiming that it circulated 10-year-old videotape to illustrate Palestinians celebrating in the wake of the September 11 tragedies in the United States.

Reuters welcomes a statement by the Universidad Estatal de Campinas-Brasil (UNICAMP), one of whose students was the author of the original e-mail, setting the record straight.

The videotape in question was shot in East Jerusalem by a Reuters camera crew on September 11 in the immediate aftermath of the attacks on the United States. The footage was broadcast by CNN and other subscribers to the Reuters video news service.

UNICAMP (Universidad Estatal de Campinas-Brasil) would like to announce that it has no knowledge of a videotape from 1991, whose images supposedly aired on CNN showing Palestinians celebrating the terrorist attacks in the U.S. The tape was supposedly from 1991, and there were rumors that the images were passed off as current.

This information was later denied, as soon as it proved false, by M?rcio A. V. Carvalho, a student at UNICAMP. He approached the administration today, 17.09.2001, to clarify the following:

* the information he got, verbally, was that a professor from another institution (not from UNICAMP) had the tape;

* he sent the information to a discussion group e-mail list;

* many people from this list were interested in the subject and requested more details;

* he again contacted the person who first gave him the information and the person denied having the tape;

* the student immediately sent out a note clarifying what happened to the people from his e-mail list.

The original message, however, was distributed all over the world, often with many distortions, including a falsified by-line article from the student. He affirms that a hacker attacked his domain. Several E-mails have been sent on his behalf and those dating from 15.09.2001 should be ignored.

Among the distortions is the fact that UNICAMP would be analyzing the tape, which is absolutely false. The administration considers this alert definitive and will be careful to avoid new rumors.

Certainly CNN wasn't the only news organization to report on the reaction of some Palestinians to the events of September 11, as other outlets such as Reuters and the Los Angeles Times carried the same story. Also, other news outlets such as and The Jerusalem Post reported that journalists were threatened for capturing images of Palestinian celebrations, making real footage of the event harder to obtain:

Palestinian Authority actions to confiscate film footage of Palestinians celebrating the terror attacks on the US were logical to prevent the media from painting the wrong picture of Palestinian sentiment, Bassam Abu Sharif, an adviser to PA Chairman Yasser Arafat.

"This was a normal preventive act . . . we don't want to give more to the Zionist propaganda which portrays all Palestinians as terrorists," he said. "The idea is that these people were not allowed to film, because a small group of people on film would represent the Palestinian people as a whole."

The footage was real. It's a shame, in fact, that its provenance was doubted because the lives of journalists who have attempted to capture similar acts on video have been threatened. That this tape made it out at all is a miracle. But CNN's reputation was besmirched by a single person, a Brazilian student who reported (without verification) that the footage in question actually came from a 1991 report on "Palestinians celebrating the invasion of Kuwait," a copy of which was in the possession of one of his teachers. (Actually, the invasion of Kuwait by Iraq took place in 1990, and it's unlikely anyone captured images of Palestinians "celebrating" that event. If CNN had used similar footage, it probably came from the Palestinian reaction to Iraq's launching of missiles at Israel during the Persian Gulf War in 1991.)

Subsequent rumors that the "Israeli Defense Agency" sent a film crew to hand out candy to Palestinians in order to induce them into staging a "celebration" for the cameras appear to be equally unfounded. However, this issue does emphasize a point that appears to have been overlooked in the debate over whether video was re-used from a previous year or not: that images themselves are not the whole story. A news report can be accompanied by stock footage and still be fair and accurate, but a news report accompanied by current footage is not necessarily either fair or accurate. A simple news clip doesn't always provide us with enough context to discern what the people depicted in it are reacting to, why they're reacting the way they are, or whether their actions are representative of a large group of people or a very small one, as an Italian journalist in Beirut reported:

Trying to find our bearings, my husband and I went into an American-style cafe in the Hamra district, near Rue Verdun, rated as one of the most expensive shopping streets in the world. Here the cognitive dissonance was immediate, and direct. The caf?'s sophisticated clientele was celebrating, laughing, cheering and making jokes, as waiters served hamburgers and Diet Pepsi. Nobody looked shocked, or moved. They were excited, very excited.

An hour later, at a little market near the U.S. Embassy, on the outskirts of Beirut, a thrilled shop assistant showed us, using his hands, how the plane had crashed into the twin towers. He, too, was laughing.

Once back at the house where we were staying, we started scanning the international channels. Soon came reports of Palestinians celebrating. The BBC reporter in Jerusalem said it was only a tiny minority. Astonished, we asked some moderate Arabs if that was the case. "Nonsense," said one, speaking for many. "Ninety percent of the Arab world believes that Americans got what they deserved."

An exaggeration? Rather an understatement. A couple of days later, we headed north to Tripoli, near the Syrian border. On the way, we read that Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, who donated blood in front of the cameras, was rejecting any suggestion that his people were rejoicing over the terrorist attack. "It was less than 10 children in Jerusalem," he said.

I, as custom declares, apologize for my triple post. (Is this my blog now?)....

On an ironic note with Memo-Gate, the night that 60 minutes aired that story do you know the story it bumped? The story that got bumped was a double segment (30 minute) story documenting as complete as possible how Bush misled the country into war.

Did the bumped story have any legimate points to make? We will never know because like I said, lies and frauds are crowding out legimate points against the war. Sixty Minutes has said they will not air the original segment now because it is too close to the election. If they did air the original segment now, no one would believe it and/or it would have a ridiculous high burden to prove it self.

Memo-gate is both an example of a fraud AND how frauds are keeping factual stories/points out.

I saw the footage when it was aired. I remember being suitably pissed off about it. The next day i remember seeing the director of the BBC apologising on BBC news 24 about the fact that they'd been misled about the footage and infact it was stock footage taken 10 years previously.

Doesn't matter what anyone says, that footage was given out in order to raly everyone against the arabs. I saw it with my own eyes, and i saw the admission that it was a misleading piece of footage. I saw Greg Dyke confirm it was stock footage.

But in the footage that was supposedly 10 years old, why would they chant "Osama Bin Laden! Osama Bin Laden!" and anti American chants? I thought the (wrong) theory was it was stock footage of them celebrating Iraq invading Kuwait in 1991?
