Mr. Trump is a master of the "bait and switch" technique, which he has used successfully against the left on many occasions. He creates a hubbub about something relatively inconsequential, the left-leaning media screams about it, and then, as if by magic, he manages to accomplish something totally unrelated to the original hubbub.
Think about it. A Trump tweet about the members of the so-called "squad" telling them to "go back where they came from" led to about a week-and-a-half of angry denunciations of Mr. Trump. What else was happening during that time? Mr. Trump, through executive order, tightened immigration restrictions. The press, which normally seize upon such issues, was distracted, and the real story was barely covered.
There are dozens of examples of this, but I'll only bore you with a couple of them.
While Mr. Trump was engaged in what seemed to be personal feuds with certain members of the press, which was noticed by the press and covered relentlessly, he was also appointing several hundred judges and career executive branch officials, which was hardly noticed and barely reported.
While the Democrats and the press had center stage during the impeachment, Mr. Trump was behind the scenes, calmly and carefully removing regulation after needless regulation, while also beginning to grapple with a far more serious problem than the futile (and infantile) mockery of an impeachment -- a pandemic.
You get the idea. All this leads me to believe...
…that Mr. Trump may already be aware that Mr. Biden will be proclaimed President, but has been withholding a concession because something else is going on behind the scenes. We may see the most productive lame duck President in this nation's history.
